Privacy Policy

Short and Simple, as all privacy policies ought to be.

When you first use Darkroom, we ask you for access to your photo library so we can read your photos and modify them. Photo data is extremely sensitive, and we believe it’s important for you to know and understand what we do with that data.

At Darkroom, we firmly believe that your data belongs to you. As such, the Darkroom app does not collect, store, or share any images, or data that can be used to identify or contact a specific individual. We do not have advertisers, nor do we require an account to use Darkroom. All information that we collect through app analytics is usage data that is anonymized, generic, and used to help us improve the quality of Darkroom. We never upload your photos.

App Analytics

We use App Store Connect, Google Firebase, and RevenueCat to help improve the app. Each provides us with anonymized and generic usage and or transaction data that we use to inform our product decisions and understand how people are using Darkroom.

Website feature requests

Feature requests you submit on this website are public, including their titles and descriptions. Other visitors can read them, and requests with at least ten votes may appear in search engines. Please do not include personal or sensitive information.

You do not need an account to submit or vote. We use a browser identifier cookie that lasts up to two years to remember votes and limit submissions. We store that identifier with requests and votes, and a hashed version of your network IP address with votes and rate-limit records to reduce abuse. These are pseudonymous records, not anonymous analytics, and are stored using Netlify.

Requests and associated vote records remain until removed. Rate-limit records older than seven days are cleared when new voting or submission activity runs cleanup. Private backups may retain earlier records. Clearing your browser cookie does not delete server records. Contact us at the address below if you need a request or related data removed.

Staff sign in through Google. Staff session cookies contain their email address and name, expire after 30 days, and are cleared on sign-out. Visitors do not need to sign in with Google.
